A 1937 graduate of the University of Missouri, and a native of Mexico, MO, he was the oldest of 7 siblings, joining the MONG at age 16. Thomas Bruce Jr. served 33 years active duty.
Colonel Bruce’s command assignments include Battery B, 128th FA Battalion, Staff Officer Division Artillery, 6th Armored Division, 3rd Army Battalion. Combat campaigns in WW II included Northern France, Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe as Commanding Officer, 128th FA Battalion, and Commander 72nd Field Artillery Group, Werthheim Germany.
Awards earned include the Army Commendation Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, French Croix De Guerre. Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Army Occupation Medal.
